With a percussive guitar style and sharp lyrical focus, Lisa Richards’ songs explore longing, love, loss, and the search for meaning with warmth, wit, and emotional clarity. Born in Australia and shaped by two decades living and performing in New York City and Austin, Texas, Lisa brings the depth of a 'life well lived' to every note she sings.
Lisa has a soft spot for late bloomers, especially women, and is delighted to create the space to introduce her audience to two local Canberra bands fronted by fearless women choosing to pursue music in their ‘second youth’ as she performs locally for the first time since the release of her self-produced album ‘Waiting to Fly’.
With a sound somewhere between the harmonies of the Seekers and the folk-rock of Jenny Morris, Daisy Chain delivers songs about identity, connection, and the state of the world that make you think deeply while offering comfort. Led by singer-songwriter Jo Evans, Daisy Chain blends mandolin, bass ukulele, keyboards, drums, acoustic guitar, and rich vocal harmonies to create a warm, distinctive indie-folk sound. Daisy Chain takes the vibe of sixties storytelling folk-rock and modernises it with the stories of today.
Liberty Belle is a Canberra-based, two-piece delivering a genre-bending mix of post-punk, blues, neo-gospel folk-infused and alt-country storytelling. Fronted by Katrin Helmreich (vocals/guitar/songwriter), playing classical acoustic guitar, ironically interpreted via distortion and instinctual energy. Anni Mather provides an alluring contrast - delivering melodic, bass-driven keys. The band’s sound is intense, visceral, but also introspective - blending razor-sharp overtones, gritty blues, and hauntingly sweet, poetic melodies.
