Faith and Music

Dear friends,

We will continue our series on 'Faith and the Arts' by delving into the joys, intricacies and intersection of Faith and Music!

We will be exploring the ways that regardless of language and culture, music has been woven deeply into the fabric of religion, religious practice and of our faith. We will look at the nature of music and how it carves out a bridge between past and present, transcends time and space, awakens our hearts and alludes to the divine.

Joining us for yet another intellectual and artistic treat, is Jaki Kane. Jaki Kane is Director of Music at St Christopher’s Cathedral and conducts the choir for the main liturgical services. She was born in Canberra and has a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Music (Honours) majoring in Musicology, with her research focused on Indigenous music from the Bundjalung people. She has a particular interest in sacred music, especially chant. She also sings with and is manager of the baroque music group the Canberra Bach Ensemble.

As always, we will head to Grill'd for dinner from 6 pm before starting in the Haydon Hall at 7 pm.
