Yuko says “I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend— a beautiful sunny one this week. Tomorrow I will be featuring Ricardo Malerba. His is a good steady danceable orquesta, but doesn't quite make the top 10 in my estimation, so I tend to overlook him. But Malerba has some great music, so it's good to consciously feature his recordings once in a while.
I confess I briefly toyed with the idea of featuring Lalo Schifrin, the famous Argentine composer who passed away just recently. He was an amazing musician in so many ways — most notably in jazz and his compositions for movie themes including “Mission Impossible”. He was behind the music of Carlos Saura's classic movie “Tango”. I re-listened to the soundtrack to see if it was danceable at a milonga, and went: yeah, nah. So instead, expect to hear some of his classics as cortinas!”
