Cult Classics with Venus Mantrap explores the archives to showcase cinema with bite: films that unnerve, push buttons, ask questions and just look good on the big screen! Gather your tribe of misfits and rowdy rebels and join Venus for edgy movies, fan favourites and hidden gems.
Winner of the Palme d'Or at the 1990 Cannes Film Festival, Wild at Heart is perhaps the late, great David Lynch at his most accessible. This bent love story dives deep into the emotional hinterland of the passion-fuelled Sailor Ripley (Nicolas Cage) and Lula Fortune (Laura Dern), a young couple on the run.
With visual references to The Wizard of Oz (1939), a searing soundtrack featuring Chris Isaak and electric performances form an ensemble cast including Willem Dafoe, Crispin Glover and Isabella Rossellini, Wild at Heart is a road movie as turbulent as it is tender.
