A drawing series that builds skills and curiosity.
Learn to Draw is an art series led by our art instructor Dylan Draker. These classes are geared toward youth aged 10 to 15 years old and provides instruction and time for practice. There will always be something new to learn whether your preteen or teen is already a drawing wizard, or just starting out. Sign up for the classes individually based on your interests or attend all of them for maximum art impact. Each class is 2 hours in length and $40. All materials are included.
This February and March, four Learn to Draw workshops are being offered:
The Basics - Sun February 15 - 12:30-2:30PM: Let’s start from the ground up! In this class, we’ll get comfortable with different drawing tools and learn some techniques, including linework, shading, and turning simple shapes into amazing drawings. Each student will receive a starter kit of supplies to use in class and at home.
Come Alive! - Sun March 1 - 12:30-2:30PM: Now that we’ve covered the basics, it’s time to make your drawings pop! We’ll learn how to bring characters and objects to life by adding contrast, depth, and perspective. You’ll also explore how to create a cool, balanced composition with strong focal points. Materials provided.
Getting Messy with Charcoal - Sun March 15 - 12:30-2:30PM: Ready to get your hands a little dirty? In this class, we’ll experiment with charcoal and discover how to use blending, shading, and erasing to create dramatic effects. You’ll see how a bit of charcoal dust can turn into something amazing. Materials provided.
Ink and Markers - Sun March 22 - 12:30-2:30PM: Inks and markers are bold, fun, and full of possibilities! Learn how to draw with fountain pens and explore different inking styles. We’ll try everything from Van Gogh-style landscapes, to comic book characters, to creative calligraphy. Materials provided.
