Come From Away

Come From Away is the remarkable true story of what happened when 38 planes were unexpectedly diverted to Gander, Newfoundland on September 11, 2001. Nearly 7,000 stranded passengers found themselves in a small town where the community opened its doors, hearts, and homes without hesitation. As fear and uncertainty filled the world, Gander’s residents mobilized—cooking meals, providing clothing, offering phones and showers, and forming unexpected friendships. Over five days, strangers became family, cultures blended, and hope emerged in the midst of tragedy. The musical follows both the “Come From Aways” and the Newfoundlanders who welcomed them, capturing real stories of kindness, resilience, and humanity. Filled with humour, heart, and uplifting Celtic-inspired music, Come From Away celebrates the extraordinary compassion shown in an extraordinary time—and reminds us that even in the darkest moments, people can come together to show the very best of themselves.
