This workshop with Rodd Lee will focus on understanding compassion. It is a fundamental aspect of Buddhist mind development; it is not only compassion for others but also ourselves.
According to Buddhism, compassion is an aspiration, a state of mind, wanting others to be free from suffering. It is not passive – it is not empathy alone – but rather an altruism that actively strives to free others from suffering. Genuine compassion must have both wisdom and loving kindness.
To really understand how we can generate compassion for others we must first understand how to generate compassion for ourselves. Self-Compassion is about getting to know ourselves better.
