Nature Exploration Walks
We’ll have several leaders ready to guide you on leisurely explorations along marked trails through the various forest and wetland habitats on the Stone House property, starting at and returning to our picnic site. Topics of discussion will likely include birds, trees, fungi, animal signs and more as you make discoveries together along the way.
Stone House Walkabout
Take a gentle tour of the grounds surrounding our picnic site and learn about the Norton family’s connection to the land, what’s in the garden, and the care behind the flourishing blueberry patch. Along the way, you’ll see the historic stone house and barn, solar panels powering the property, a serene pond, trailheads inviting further exploration, and beautifully preserved stone walls.
Games, Crafts and Fun
We’ll have a host of fun, hands-on options for you to try on the grounds close to our picnic that feature and expand on our Tug Hill Explorer backpacks, whose themes are birds, animal tracks, insects and ponds & streams. Achieve correct answers to our Tug Hill trivia quiz here – we’ll enter you in a drawing for a prize! Read a story or two, make some track rubbings, start a nature journal, play a game, do some coloring, or complete some puzzles.
