Beech Leaf Disease Survey Training

Join us for a guided nature walk with SLELO PRISM at the stunning Salmon River Falls Unique Area in Richland, NY, where we will focus on the American Beech tree and its newest nemesis: Beach Leaf Disease! Come explore, learn, and help protect our forests!

This walk is open to all ages. There is no fee for parking or to attend. Registration is required for all to receive important updates and weather-related cancellations.

We’ll gather in the parking area before heading out on the Upper Falls Trail, a scenic one-mile path along the north side of the river to Dam Road. Along the way, enjoy breathtaking views of the gorge and the iconic 100-foot waterfall.

You'll first learn how to identify American Beech trees and all about how they play an important role in our Tug Hill forests. Then, you'll learn how to recognize the signs and symptoms of Beech Leaf Disease (BLD) and report your observations to New York's iMapInvasives mobile app.
