Curious about canning? Ready to turn fresh produce into jars of deliciousness? Join Formaggio Kitchen owner Julia Hallman for Pickling and Preserving 101—an engaging, seated class designed to teach you the foundational techniques of these time-honored kitchen crafts.
During this demonstration class, Julia will walk you through the basics of both quick and traditional pickling, as well as the preserving methods that bring out the best in seasonal ingredients. Participants will also have an opportunity to come up in small groups for hands-on learning.
You'll sample a curated selection of our favorite pickled and preserved items from the shop, alongside what we make during the class. To keep you fueled and inspired, we’ll have plenty of cheese, charcuterie, and bread to snack on—plus wine for sipping throughout the evening.
Each guest will leave with a bundle of tasty take-home treats and the confidence to start pickling and preserving in their own kitchen. Whether you're a total beginner or just brushing up your skills, this class is the perfect way to dive into the world of preserving with flavor and flair.
To fully participate in the class:
1. Reserve your ticket through Eventbrite! Purchase one ticket for each member of your party. The ticket price includes admission for one for the demonstration, materials, and accompaniments for one.
2. Show up on the day of class! Class will begin at 7:30pm. This is a seated event in our retail learning setting. The duration of the class is about an hour and a half. After class, there will be time to tour our cheese caves as well as shop our expansive product selection (at a 10% discount!).
3. This event is for 21+. Our staff will check IDs at the door.

CANCELLATION POLICY: If you are unable to attend a class, please let us know at least 72 hours before the class is scheduled to take place and we will give you a full refund or a credit for a future class. If you don't let us know in advance of the class, you are not entitled to any refund or credit.
