Come for the walk, stay for the soup!
What could be better on a chilly fall day, than an interesting and enlightening stroll, followed by a warm bowl of hearty and delicious, home made Scotch Broth soup in our cozy Cottage on the banks of the Grand?
Plan to join us for a fall walking tour of the area surrounding McDougall Cottage. Weβll explore the architecture of βThe Granite Cityβ, looking at how Scottish masons constructed the stone houses that the workers and business owners lived in and that the early industries of the areas were built on. Weβll talk about what happens when architectural heritage of an area is lost and how we can protect it for future generations. Finally, weβll walk through the neighborhoods that host the baronial houses atop the hills of West Galt and then head back to the Cottage for a tasty treat.
This walking tour may include hills, stairs and uneven terrain. Participants should dress for the weather. Phones are recommended, but not required, to access additional information on the sites weβll be visiting. Note: No washroom facilities available during tour.
Pre-registration is required and space is limited, so register early! Ticket includes walk plus soup served alongside a fresh, crusty roll (Please email us at
