On Saturday the 14th of June is the local Cambridge Pride event on Jesus Green!
The LGBTQ+ society will be hosting a picnic next to the Pride event along with some of the University of Cambridge JCR and MCR LGBTQ+ representatives to provide an alternative meeting space. If you are interested, nervous about attending pride or looking for some people to connect with, please feel free to come along! Snacks will be provided.
For those that haven’t attended pride events before, be aware that there will be lots of people, loud music, and alcohol, a bit like a small music festival, so make sure to stay hydrated, consider having a buddy, a meet up point, and ear plugs if this your first time attending!
Here is some background information on the Pride event, found on their website.
https://cambridgepride.co.uk/. This is the fourth year that the city is holding Pride. There will be a small parade, stalls and some stages on Jesus Green to enjoy, along with a multitude of different groups and organisations to talk to.
That said, there are also various movements boycotting Cambridge Pride or hosting alternative pride events like Trans Liberation Cambridge. More info on the boycott and their list of demands can be found here:
