French-English Poetry Reading with Sandra Moussempès at Downing College

Sandra Moussempès will give a short talk about her work and background before performing some of her poetry in French and English.

About Sandra Moussempès:

Sandra Moussempès is a French poet whose work draws upon upon ancient figures, like Lilith and Cassandra, and contemporary film and art, like the works of Cindy Sherman and David Lynch, in order to conjure spectral voices and feminine doubles. Through these ancient and contemporary resonances and echoes, her work plays with memory, voices, and telepathic atmospheres in a highly original poetic voice. She has published thirteen books, including Sauvons l’ennemie (Poésie/Flammarion, 2025), Fréquence Mulholland (Éditions MF, 2023), Cassandre à bout portant (Poésie/Flammarion, 2021), Cinéma de l’affect, Boucles de voix off pour film fantôme (Éditions de l’Attente, 2020), and Sunny Girls (Poésie/Flammarion, 2015).

In addition to her writing, she is also a singer and performer. She has composed several albums of sound creations that integrate her singing voice with her poetry.
