RIP LAMFest — Welcome ALMA Boston!
This year marks a historic moment as the Latin American Music Festival transforms into the Association of Latin American Musicians & Artists in Boston (ALMA Boston). To honor this exciting new chapter, we are proud to collaborate with the Multicultural Arts Center to present our most anticipated celebration of the year: Day of the Dead / Día de los Muertos. The musical program is curated by Artistic Director Zaira Meneses, bringing together an extraordinary mix of traditions, classical repertoire, and contemporary voices. The evening concert will feature the UNIDOS Orchestra under guest conductor Jorge V., with Raquel Fisk as piano soloist in Mozart’s Concerto No. 9 and Zaira Meneses as guitar soloist in Leo Brouwer’s Danza Macabra, a piece dedicated to her. The orchestra will also perform works by Joaquín Turina, Mozart, Brouwer, and Piazzolla, closing the night with an exhilarating live Tango dance.
3:00 pm - 6:00 pm
The afternoon celebration showcases Boston’s vibrant Mexican and Latin American community with a lineup of local musicians performing authentic and original music. Highlights include Zaira Meneses and her Son Jarocho Band, Brandon Uballe with Norteño music, Juan Pedraza bringing the spirit of Rock & Roll in Spanish, and Tania Glenn with her band Curason, presenting original songs rooted in tradition and innovation. This outdoor family event also features a community altar, artisan vendors, dance, and delicious, authentic Mexican food.
7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
The evening concert will feature the UNIDOS Orchestra under guest conductor Jorge V., with Raquel Fisk performing Mozart’s Concerto No. 9 and Zaira Meneses performing Leo Brouwer’s Danza Macabra, alongside orchestral works by Joaquín Turina, Mozart, Brouwer, and Piazzolla, concluding with a live Tango dance that invites the audience into celebration.
Rooted in Mexican tradition and embraced worldwide, Day of the Dead is a time to honor our ancestors, celebrate life, and gather as a community. Our festival brings this spirit to Boston with a full afternoon and evening of music, art, food, and cultural connection.
