Blackwater Public Paddle - 2025 - Sultana Education Foundation

Come join Sultana Education Foundation’s paddling program on an exploration of one of the most unique areas in the Chesapeake Bay watershed: Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge. Blackwater is home to many plants and animals that call the area home. It also provides some of the most beautiful Chesapeake scenery that you can find! See all the sights here along the Transquaking River!

Sultana Education Foundation's Public Paddles provide participants with unique experiences on the Chesapeake Bay and its tidal tributaries. During a typical voyage, participants paddle through scenic, undeveloped portions of one of the Bay’s tidal tributaries while learning about the flora and fauna that make the region so unique. Kayak programs take place on the National Park Service’s Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail and were established with the support of the National Park Service’s Chesapeake Bay Gateways office. Kayaks are provided so all you need to bring is water, a snack, and your binoculars!
