About this Event

We are partnering with the Cambrige Library to celebrate the release of Peter Geye's new book: A Lesser Light! He will be in conversation with another award-winning author, Thomas Maltman whose earlier book (The Night Birds) was the 2009 Cambridge Community-Wide Read. Peter Geye's book, Safe from the Sea was the 2013 selection.

Peter Geye is the author of the award-winning novels Safe from the Sea, The Lighthouse Road, and Wintering, winner of the Minnesota Book Award, Northernmost, The Ski Jumpers, and A Lesser Light.

Geye received his MFA from the University of New Orleans and his PhD from Western Michigan University, where he was editor of Third Coast. Born and raised in Minneapolis, he continues to live there with his family.

Thomas Maltman's first novel, The Night Birds, won an Alex Award, a Spur Award, and the Friends of American Writers Literary Award. In 2009 the American Library Association chose The Night Birds as an “Outstanding Book for the College Bound.” Little Wolves, his second novel, was a finalist for the Minnesota Book Award and won the All Iowa Reads selection in 2014. He teaches at Normandale Community College and lives in the Twin Cities area with his wife, a Lutheran pastor, and his three daughters. His third novel, The Land, was published in 202 and In July he will publish his fourth novel, Ashes to Ashes.

This is a FREE event. No registration required. Refreshments will be served by the Friends of the Cambridge Library.
