Members, non-members, supporters and anyone who loves Dartmoor are warmly invited to join us for our Annual General Meeting and Mini Conference on Saturday 7th June. Starting at 10am, we will update everyone on key information about the Dartmoor Preservation Association as a charity, before stopping for light complimentary snacks, followed by our speakers in the afternoon.
This is a chance for anyone who is curious about the work of the DPA to come along and meet our staff, trustees and members. Questions are welcomed and we would be pleased to hear any ideas or feedback relating to our aims around access support, planning vigilance and land management on the moor. There is an archaeological theme to our Mini Conference in the afternoon, with Dr Lee Bray and Alan Endacott joining us to share updates on their fascinating work.
Tickets are FREE, but please RSVP by following the ticketing link to secure your place on the guest list.
Afternoon speakers:
Dr Lee Bray speaks about the new cist being excavated on Dartmoor, discovered after surrounding peat began eroding. This find could be as significant as the one found at Whitehorse Hill, a burial chamber from approx 1700 BC.
Alan Endacott, DPA funded archaeologist, shares an update on his work at Taw Marsh, which has been partially funded by the DPA, plus explains the significance of his two new stone circle finds and the sacred arc theory.
