Theatre-Making Workshop

Join facilitator Kodie Rollan (Artistic Director of Chromatic Theatre) as he guides you through an introduction to playwriting and what the process looks like to get it from the page to the stage. This workshop is best suited for beginners; those who may not have a lot of experience in the craft of playwriting or theatre making.

Workshops are recommended for people ages 12 and over. Children under 12 years old are welcome with parent/guardian supervision. Please get a ticket for each person (incl. all children).

The workshop is pay what you can! Suggested $20 - $30 to support facilitator fees and supplies.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR:

Kodie Rollan is a Philippine-born, Scarborough-raised, Moh'kins'tsis (Calgary)-based, playwright, dramaturg, lyricist, and producer. He is passionate about creating care-forward environments where artists and collaborators can dream their dreamiest dreams, show up in the fullness of themselves and thrive in their artistry. The majority of the work that he creates centers themes of justice in all its intersectional forms. As a playwright and dramaturg, he has worked with many organizations across Turtle Island including but not limited to: the Banff Playwrights Lab, Lunchbox Theatre, fuGen Theatre, the Musical Stage Company, and many others. He is currently the Artistic Director of Chromatic Theatre and spends most of his time (outside of the arts) talking and thinking about the Toronto Raptors.

Alcove Centre for the Arts (alcoveartscentre.ca) is a non-profit organization based in Calgary, AB which aims to make art more accessible and promote a vibrant local arts industry. We curate and cultivate community art spaces for Calgarians to engage in art and creativity while building a platform for emerging local artists.

Alcove is a Recreational Art Space open to the public providing free art supplies and instruments to stimulate creativity. The space also acts as a gathering place for workshops, community events, and social meetups. Come visit and get creative!
