Queer Rights and Queer Issues: I Will be Silent No More
In this presentation Bill will focus on my activism through quilt making ... Quiltivism!
While depression, childhood sexual abuse, Black Lives Matter, and a variety of other social justice issues have always influenced his work, Bill is obsessed with advocating for Queer rights and starting conversations about issues affecting Queer folk.
In this presentation, he'll look at some quilts, and “I'll explain my Quilting the Progression of Queer Rights in Canada and why it is so important.”
This presentation is well suited for Queer audiences who may not be interested in a lot of quilt making information and background.
The focus will be on the quilts, the messages that they tell, and the issues that they address!
I see your true colours
Shining through
I see your true colours
And that’s why
I love you
So don’t be afraid
To let them show
Your true colours
Are beautiful
Like a Rainbow.

Artist Statement:
In January, I watched my greatest fears unfold into reality.
Tears would roll down my cheeks for no apparent reason.
Depression? Fear for my American Queer friends? PTSD?
Yes to all three.
The message within ‘True Colours’ – both the song and the Quilt Along ... will get me through it.
