Lino Block Workshop

Join us at Alcove for a beginner’s linocut printing workshop where you’ll learn all the basic skills needed to print your own art. You’ll learn how to transfer your drawing to a linoleum block, different carving techniques, and how to stamp your block onto paper. All required materials and tools will be provided and in just two hours you’ll have a unique stamp and set of prints to take home!

Workshops are recommended for people ages 12 and over. Children under 12 years old are welcome with parent/guardian supervision. Please get a ticket for each person (incl. all children).

The workshop is pay what you can! Suggested $20 - $30 to support facilitator fees and supplies.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR:

Nell Planedin (they/them), known as Rodeo Clown Press, is a transgender, autistic, and queer artist who explores various mediums, with a recent focus on printmaking.

Through their captivating creations, they aim to connect with diverse audiences and spark conversations that challenge societal norms. Nell's art delves into themes of nature, bugs, rats, crawlers, critters, and activism, capturing the beauty and complexity of the natural world and intertwining it with social and environmental issues.

Alcove Centre for the Arts (alcoveartscentre.ca) is a non-profit organization based in Calgary, AB which aims to make art more accessible and promote a vibrant local arts industry. We curate and cultivate community art spaces for Calgarians to engage in art and creativity while building a platform for emerging local artists.

Alcove is a Recreational Art Space open to the public providing free art supplies and instruments to stimulate creativity. The space also acts as a gathering place for workshops, community events, and social meetups. Come visit and get creative!
