🪨 Rock out at Indigenous Science Night: October 24! 🪨
An evening giving reverence to Ancestor rocks, stones, and pebbles! Experience the knowledges of Rock Ancestors through hands-on science and art workshops, Elder’s teachings, and even cooking with earth and stones!
This event brings together teachings from Indigenous, Land-based, and Global science, a chance for everyone to reconnect with the depth of teachings we are gifted from Ancestor Rocks.
As our oldest teachers, they have taught humans knowledge of connection through ceremony, how to connect the land with cosmic cycles across millennia, their unique personalities in making tools, weapons, and cooking, and much more...
What to expect:
🪨 Cooking with Earth & Stones demo + tastings with Cree Chef Shane Chartrand ($30 add-on)
🪨 Elder Talks on the spiritual and scientific wisdom of Ancestor Rocks
🪨 Clay and paint workshops demo art through the Four Elements
🪨 Cosmic scavenger hunts and telescope viewing of “Rocks in the Sky”
🪨 Bring Your Own Rock station, where guests can bring in their favourite rocks, fossils, and more and ask Spark geologists can answer all their quartz-y questions.Indigenous Market featuring local Indigenous vendors
🪨 Live music from Walter MacDonald White Bear, Tribe Artist Society, and Treaty 7 punk band Quarter Ounce
Guests can also enjoy special land-based delights such as BBQ Bison Burger and Pemmican Saskatoon Sundae, and a Spark favourite – Beef Brisket Frybread by Bakers Bannock.
