About the Instructor

Alice Helwig is a Calgary-based artist and educator who has painted in acrylics since the age of 12. She studied commercial art at Medicine Hat College and earned a B.Ed. with Distinction from the University of Lethbridge. Her teaching career has taken her from remote northern communities to the TV screen, where she hosted four seasons of Canvas on Shaw Cable. A two-time resident at the Banff Centre for Arts, Helwig continues to teach and create in her studio. Her award-winning work is held in private and corporate collections across Canada.
