with Burlesque Burn!
It's our favorite time of the year - a time we like to lovingly call 'Burlesque Christmas'. This is when we get to pull out all the stops, get strange and dark and maybe a little messy! This is always our most popular session - spots go fast!
Our September / October 2025 session is finally here - it's time to get into the 'spirit' of the season together! Yes we've got creepy options, but we've also got core classes with just a little bit of a nod to the darker side of things - and all classes culminate in an optional performance in the session showcase (BOOBtacular Monster Mash 15 - scheduled for Saturday November 1).

Burlesque Burn sessions are 6 weeks unless otherwise noted. In-person classes include a 7th weekend rehearsal class (see calendar below) prior to our final week.
Burlesque Burn prides itself on small in-person class sizes, therefore class registration is currently capped at 10 students. Your spot in class is guaranteed and registration is confirmed once payment is received in full.
To perform in the end of session showcase (which is, of course, always optional), you must attend a minimum of 4 of the 7 classes, including the last class of the session as it is our dress rehearsal. You are strongly encouraged to attend the bonus rehearsal class prior to our last week (and performance). If you are performing in the BOOBtacular 15 showcase, you will also be required to make time in the afternoon on Saturday November 1 to have some or all of your makeup / special effects done for you.
Please note in-person classes are held in accordance with all Alberta public health guidelines and bylaws, and will continue to respond to this ever-changing landscape with the best interests of everyone's health and safety in mind. Please DO NOT attend class if you are feeling unwell or exhibiting any signs of illness, or have been in close contact with anyone that has received positive COVID-19 test results.
Fees:
Community-centered studio space is hard to find, as are non-profit rates. For that reason our studio fees have increased 30%, which means unfortunately the registration fees must also increase. It's been over 7 years since we last raised our registration fee, and we hope you'll understand. <3
Early Bird registration is $215, and on until September 15. Registration is $230 after September 15. Students registered in the Summer '25 session of Burlesque Burn receive a $10 discount (applied to every class when registering for more than one class in the session). Please note your spot is not guaranteed until payment is received in full.
Payment can be made via e-transfer or Paypal (please add 2.9% +$0.30 for transaction fees), mailed cheque (please inquire for the mailing address) or in person via cash.
There is no fee to perform in the end of session showcase, however you are required to purchase your custom-made pasties (which are then, of course, yours to keep!) If you require any additional costume pieces or elements not provided by Burlesque Burn you will be informed of them in the first class.
Costume / prop deposit: if you would like to take props and/or costume pieces home to practice with between classes there may be a nominal deposit required, which will be returned once loaned props/pieces are returned in like condition.
Burlesque Burn is a fitness and dance class combined - a 20 minute workout (which you can do all week at home), followed by 40 minutes of dance. You will learn a choreography to perform at the end of session show as well as important life skills to carry with you forever (uh, hello, The Hustle is absolutely a life skill)!
Fall classes are held at Free Spirit Dance located at 112 16 Ave NW.
In addition to Beginner and Intermediate / Advanced, our special interest class this session is Dark Burlesque!
Beginner: You may have seen a show, or even just a picture of a pin-up. A black and white cabaret shot backlit by the bright glow of stage lights, and you want to test it out! Start class with a signature Burlesque Burn workout, then learn basic burlesque moves and theory building into an optional performance choreography over the course of your 6-week session. Beginner Burlesque requires no previous experience.
Intermediate / Advanced:
You’ve gotten your feet wet, now you’re ready to tackle something just a little more challenging - It’s time to kick it up a notch! Class begins with a signature Burlesque Burn workout, then push yourself with more challenging choreographies, transitions and learning pace as you build your (optional) performance choreography over the 6-week course. This class is a blended Intermediate / Advanced difficulty and requires previous dance and performance experience.
Dark Burlesque with Daisy DeVille: Burlesque doesn't always have to be sunshine and rainbows! This special interest class is dedicated to channeling some of the darker aspects of human nature. Also known as Gorelesque - prepare to get moody (and probably a little messy!) while we combine horror and burlesque for something completely different! This class is open to all experience levels and tends to fill up super fast! There is no technical difference between 1 & 2 - however they are completely different choreographies, music, costuming and themes.
*Special interest classes are registered, OPEN LEVEL, and include the optional performance component*
