Animal Apprentices (Ages 7-9) - Fall 2025

Animal Apprentices Club provides youth with a positive experience of active involvement in our shelter through structured volunteer shadowing opportunities, inspiring and relevant guest speakers, and of course, some interactions with shelter animals.

1. Build upon their sense of social responsibility to animals, people, and the environment

2. Refresh their knowledge of proper animal care, body language, and enrichment

3. Understand what volunteer opportunities in animal welfare are available for them to get involved with

4. Actively participate in support tasks around Calgary Humane Society in order to make a difference in the lives of the animals in our care

5. Be exposed to different career opportunities that involve working with or around animals

6. Become CHS Champions by developing their understanding of philanthropy and the importance of fundraising in non-profit work
