ميتافيزيقا الجسد والروح

في الرؤية الكونية للمصري القديم، لم يكن الموت نهاية، بل أفقاً وعتبة حدودية تقف عندها الروح، فإذا ما أُعدت إعداداً صحيحاً، أمكنها تجاوز الفناء. وعلى ذلك لم يكن فن التحنيط المصري مجرد ممارسة لحفظ الجسد مادياً، بل كان حرفة مقدسة تهدف إلى تثبيت الوعاء المادي الذي هو "الجسد" ليتمكن الجوهر اللامادي الذي هو "الروح" من اجتياز تضاريس وأهوال العالم الآخر. فكل شريط من الكتان كان يهمس بتعويذة، وكل قطرة زيت كانت تحمل نفس إلهي نقي.
ففي التحنيط، كان الزمن نفسه يعلق، ليصبح الجسد عالماً مصغراً للأبدية.
ومن خلال هذا الطقس الشيق نعيد معاً تمثيل أسطورة "أوزيريس" (سيد الأحياء) الذي أُعيد إلى الحياة بحب زوجته "إيزيس"، ومهارة وفيه "أنوبيس".

إن "درس التحنيط" هو بمثابة إذن دخول إلى فضاء فلسفي تتقاطع فيه الديانة مع علم الأحياء، والسحر مع علم الكون. فالجسد المحنط لم يكن جثة هامدة، بل معبداً للوعد بأن الموت ليس فناء، بل محض تحول.

وفي هذا اللقاء سوف نحاول تبسيط تلك العملية الفلسفية المعقدة بشقيها النظري والتطبيقي على خشبة المسرح، مستعرضين معاً الفكر، والمضمون، والمراحل المادية والميتافيزيقية، الأدوات والخامات والطقوس الخاصة التي تصاحبها تعاويذ كتب العالم الآخر المصرية، لنتلمس معاً تلك العتبة العتمة التي تفصل عالمنا الذي نعيش فيه عن العالم الذي سوف نحيا فيه.

يقدم هذا الحدث استكشافاً فلسفياً وأدائياً لمفهوم التحنيط في مصر القديمة، بغرض الكشف عن كونه ليس مجرد ممارسة جنائزية، بل طقساً مقدساً يجمع بين اللاهوت وعلم الأحياء وعلم الكون والسحر. في دعوة للجمهور لعبور عتبة رمزية، للتأمل في التصورات المصرية القديمة التي ترى الموت كتحول لا كفناء، والتفكر في كيف أن تثبيت الجسد كان طريقاً لتحرير الروح. فمعاً نستطيع ربط الحدث بين حكمة الأقدمين وأسئلتنا المعاصرة حول الهوية والموت والحياة في مساحة درامية يتقاطع فيها الفكر والطقس، والمعرفة والأداء.

The Metaphysics of Flesh and Spirit

In the cosmic worldview of the ancient Egyptian, death was not an end but a horizon, a liminal threshold where the soul, if properly prepared, could transcend mortality. Thus, the Egyptian art of mummification was not merely a practice of material preservation, but a sacred craft aimed at stabilizing the material vessel which is the "body", so that the immaterial essence which is the "spirit" could traverse the terrains and terrors of the afterlife.

Each linen strip whispered a spell, and each drop of oil carried a pure divine breath. As in mummification, time itself was suspended, for the body became a microcosm of eternity. Through this captivating ritual, we collectively reenact the myth of “Osiris”; Lord of the Living, who was brought back to life by the love of his wife “Isis” and the skill and loyalty of “Anubis”.

The Mummification Lesson is an entrance to the philosophical domain where religion, biology, magic, and cosmology converge. Where the embalmed body becomes a temple of promise that death is not annihilation, but transformation.

In this session, we will demystify that philosophical process both theoretically and practically, live on stage, presenting the thought, substance, and the material and metaphysical stages of mummification, along with the tools, substances, and ritual spells from the Egyptian books of the afterlife.

This event offers a philosophical and performative exploration of the concept of mummification in ancient Egypt, aiming to reveal it not as a mere funerary practice, but as a sacred ritual that unites theology, biology, cosmology, and magic. It invites the audience to cross a symbolic threshold, to reflect on ancient Egyptian beliefs that viewed death as transformation, not annihilation, and to consider how the stabilization of the body was a path to the liberation of the soul. Together, we can connect the wisdom of the ancients with our contemporary questions about identity, death, and life—within a dramatic space where thought and ritual, knowledge and performance, intersect.

Together, we shall approach that shadowy threshold where the world we believe we know dissolves into the one awaiting our becoming.
