Workshop In the framework of SABBART:
The Art of Noticing: Writing Through Loss and Renewal.

In this month’s Women’s Writing Circle we want to take a look. Start noticing. See what’s broken, what we inherited and no longer want, what we threw away or left behind. And then we’ll see what can still grow from it.

We’ll explore how writing can make space for things that are hard to name: family stories that linger, places that feel haunted, habits passed down without asking. We’ll think about ruins — both physical and emotional — not as endings, but as places where something new might take root.

The workshop is inspired by an eco-feminist approach, a movement that combines ecological and feminist struggle. We will read text from writers and thinkers who stay close to the ground — noticing what survives in the cracks, what is passed down through silence, what composts into something unexpected.

Through writing exercises, shared reflection, and discussion, we’ll work with memory, imagination and attention as tools for shaping new stories from old layers.

The Writing Circle takes place as part of SABBART Vol. 2 — an event series by the EUNIC Cluster Egypt that explores how art can inspire more sustainable and eco-social futures. This year’s edition is dedicated to the four elements: fire, water, earth, and wind, and takes place across various venues in Cairo and Alexandria.

ورشة كتابية في إطار مهرجان "صبأرت"، فن الملاحظة: الكتابة من خلال الفقد والتجديد

في حلقة الكتابة النسائية لهذا الشهر نود أن نتمعن أكثر و نبدأ بالملاحظة. نرى ما هو مكسور – ما قد ورثناه و لم نعد نريده و ما قد تخلصنا منه أو تركناه. و بعد ذلك سنرى ما الذي بامكانه النمو من خلال ذلك.

سنكتشف كيف يمكن للكتابة أن تخلق مساحة لأشياء يصعب تسميتها: قصص عائلية لا تزال عالقة – أماكن نشعر انها مسكونة – عادات تم توارثها بدون سؤال عن سبب ذلك. سوف نقوم بالتأمل في الحطام – سواء المادي أو العاطفي ليس كنهايات بل كأماكن قد نبتت فيها بدايات جديدة.

ورشة العمل مستوحاة من مبادرة بيئية نسوية و هي حركة تجمع بين النضال البيئي و النسوي. سوف نقوم بقراءة نصوص لكتاب و مفكرين يقيمون بالقرب من الأرض و يلاحظون ما يستطيع النجاة بين الشقوق و ما يتم تناقله من خلال الصمت و ما يتحلل ليصبح شيئا غير متوقع.

و من خلال الكتابة و التأمل المشترك و النقاش سنعمل على استخدام الذاكرة و الخيال و الانتباه كأدوات لصياغة قصص جديدة من طبقات قديمة.

تقام حلقة الكتابة ضمن الجزء الثاني من فاعليات "صبارت" وهى سلسلة من الفاعليات التي ينظمها اتحاد المعاهد الثقافية الأوروبية بمصر و التي تستعرض كيف يمكن للفن أن يلهم مستقبلا أكثر استدامة و حفاظا على البيئة.
