Master Naturalist Big Weekend Public Events

While our programs are usually only available to members of the program, we will be opening several of our evening events to the public. Nature minded individuals of all ages are encouraged to join us!

June 6th: 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM - Nature Photography
Andrew Walker and John Dennis will lead us through a short course on the ins-and-outs of Nature Photography. We will be meeting in the main lodge in the Hughes Room. Bring your camera!

June 7th: 8:30 PM - 10:00 PM - Night Herpetology Walk, Astronomy/Astrophotography
Participants can choose to look up at the skies or look down at the ground for salamanders. John Dennis will lead the stargazers at the Lodge while Adam Weaver will lead a herpetology walk through the Extra Mile Trail and the Overhanging Rock Trail. Those wishing to search for salamanders should bring flashlights or headlamps to aid in the search! If opportunity arises, we will also be keeping eyes and ears out for owls.

Participants are encouraged to make reservations at the Lodge or Campsites if they would like!
