Sub-Merge returns to crate59 with an sublime program that combines new experimental and improvised music, contemporary performance and new media, in an immersive and dynamic program.
Performance practitioner Rebecca Yodel, and sound artist File_Error will present a new improvised work, building on their ongoing sound/object/performance partnership.
Total Football are an improvisational ambient duo, employing hypnotic repetition and shimmering harmonics to create an immersive, dream-like soundscape.
First Nation’s performance artist Gumlu, will both present a new media and performance based work, while his alter ego, DJ Mr Tarago will close the night’s action with some smooth and obscure funk.
The Midnight Helix are a jazztronica duo, bringing a cohesive blend of strong musicianship and explorative improvisation.
Melodic Malfeasance is a noise artist whose atmospheric layering of sound pushes the bounds of resonance and distortion.
Sub-Merge is be curated by DOULA, and produced by The 5Five Presents.
Sub-merge first emerged as an experimental program some 15+ years ago at crate59 - so its a long circle arc to bring this program back to this vital community arts space.
