During the Trustee Talk Randy will review the items that must be dealt with in an upcoming special meeting that is scheduled for Sunday August 10th at 4:30 pm just before Sunday night service. Items on the agenda for the special meeting are:
• Membership and voting process. Upon entering the special meeting each voting member will be provided 1 ballot for each voting item. All ballots are anonymous.
• Articles of Faith – Voting item. We will put the proposed revision on the overhead projector.
• Explain the process for filling the 2 vacant Trustee positions. Per our by-laws, there will be a
nominating committee made of no less than 3 people. The 3 current trustees (Randy, Terrill, Buddy) will make up 3 of the 5 nominating committee members. The 2 remaining committee members will be made up of any member in good standing that is willing to serve. All nominations will be provided to the Trustees by August 10th. The trustees will call a special trustee meeting the following week to select the 2 members of the nominating committee.
• Explain the process of how the nominating committee selects the trustees. The by-laws does not explicitly state that the trustee nominations and membership nominations will be brought to a vote. It just states that nominations may come from the nominating committee and the membership at a regularly scheduled meeting. So, I need some clarification on how to proceed. Should we consider ALL nominations, allow the nominating committee choose the top 3-4 (if we have that many nominations) and present options to membership for voting on August 24th. Or, does the nominating committee choose the top candidates? My interpretation is that all nominations come before the nominating committee to select the top candidates. If there are 2 available positions, then the nominating committee would select the top 3 or 4 candidates for the membership to vote on. If that is the case we may have to change some dates in order to give the nominating committee time to gather and review candidate information.
