About this Event

Buxton Hill Walks

Come join us for a scenic stroll through the beautiful woodlands of Buxton, starting and ending at The Zink Project. Enjoy the fresh air, stunning views, and good company as we explore the local history, nature and trails together.

This the first half of a local loop, taking in Grin Low Wood, Sherbrook Wood, Ashwood Park and Hogshaw Wood. We will then detour through the Pavillion Gardens and head back to Zink. Second half of the loop coming later in the month! A great opportunity to learn more about Buxton's history and flora. Expect tree ID!

Itinery:

  • Start 945am at The Zink Project for briefing, walk to start at 10am. Parking is available on street and you can also pay for parking at Market Street car park.
  • Finish approx 1300pm at The Zink Project, where hot meals, drinks and cakes are available.

Details:

  • This route will follow paths through woodland, and the busy town centre. There are a number of road crossings including the two A roads, where care will be taken. There are some ascents and descents, some short but steep. The start of the route includes a steep set of steps.
  • Distance: approx 6 miles/10km.
  • Elevation: approx 800ft/240m.
  • Level of difficulty: Easy
  • Terrain: Waymarked paths, some bumpy and rocky which can be slippery when wet, with exposed roots in wooded areas. Pavements.
  • Safety: this walks is led by a qualified Hill and Moorland Leader.
  • A toilet is available at The Zink Project, Poole's Cavern, Pavillion Gardens and at Morrison's supermarket, the half way point.
  • Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a short lead at all times.

What to bring:

  • Rucksack
  • Sturdy boots/shoes
  • Snacks/any food you may need for the duration of the walk
  • Water
  • Waterproofs and warm layers
  • Small first aid kit with any personal Medic*tion if required.
