Get ready for a night to remember as the Buxton International Festival 2025 kicks off in style on Saturday 12 July 2025. Join us for our red carpet opening night, a special celebration marking the start of another unforgettable summer of opera, music, books and jazz.
This year’s opening night features the premiere of our brand new production of Hamlet – an exciting moment for Buxton, as the opera returns to the stage here for the first time since 1980.
This powerful new staging will be brought to life by the renowned Orchestra of Opera North, making it a unique opportunity to experience this dramatic masterpiece with world-class musical talent.
Before the curtain rises, from 6.15pm enjoy live music from a string quartet playing on the forecourt of the beautiful Buxton Opera House, setting the mood for a magical evening. Guests will also have the chance to mingle the creative team, including Hamlet director Jack Furness.
