Park Headquarters to Owens and Freeman Tract Rd

The shortest walkabout on McDade Trail... and the steepest! Meet at the Park Office on River Road for a two-mile walkabout down the mountain to Owens Trailhead and Freeman Tract Road. Save your energy for the walk back up!

Due to the short length, this is not the most difficult section of McDade. Slow and steady conquers this piece of trail.

Up top the mountain, we'll cross the bridge over the swamp. Keep your eye out for Shrek!
