Myra June Egli (nee Buckler) was born to Pennelope Buckler (nee Harkness) and Ernest Earl Buckler, May 13th, 1952 in Bengough, Saskatchewan. Her life began on a farm in the prairies, where the horizons stretch as far as the eye can see — a stark yet poetic contrast to her beloved Yukon, the mountainous playground that became her home and filled her heart with adventure.
Myra June was many things, to many people.
She was a free-spirited, kind-hearted sister to Lynda, Teri, Tyke, Kim, and Kirsten. Myra held her family close to her heart — sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles, in-laws were often at the center of many fond memories shared with us. Myra was blessed with both family and friends who loved her dearly. As her daughter, I can say I am now also blessed by this. All those closest to her have been an anchor for myself and my family through her passing. I am and will be forever grateful.
As loyal and honest as Myra was as a sister and friend, she was equally encouraging and nurturing as a teacher. She was dedicated to her students, ensuring they felt seen and heard as they navigated through their own unique journeys. She was especially non-judgmental and "real" with her students, and in this was able to meet them where they were at — a quality that made her stand out as a teacher, and forge friendships that have lasted decades.
Myra was deeply passionate about all things creative, and where she really excelled was as a painter — her fun-loving spirit ever curiously exploring the world of watercolour — though no matter how often she put paint to paper, she would not claim the title. Her piano was her second most sacred item, second only to her Bible. Passed down through family, her Heintzman piano was miraculously shipped all the way from Saskatchewan, to the Yukon. The sound of every key's unique tune was etched in our ears from a time before I can even remember. Inspiring both myself and my brother, she played every song with love, from her heart, through the keys, to our hearts.
Myra was also an explorer. She was always drawn to the mountains, each new hill and valley leading her to the next. She loved the outdoors — hiking, sailing, and travelling. Life was a grand adventure, and the world was our oyster — as she would often tell us growing up.
As a devoted wife of 43 years to Charles Egli, Myra was a fiercely loving mother to my brother Chad and me, Christa Egli. She loved us more brightly than all the stars in the heavens, and there was nothing she would not do for her family. We were her whole world.

Myra June Egli made her way to her heavenly home on April 28th, 2025, surrounded by her family and her ever enduring faith.
We invite you to come celebrate her beautiful life at 2 p.m. on June 14th, 2025, at St. Elias Convention Center in Haines Junction. There will be a memorial service — in the way mom would have wanted, not too long, not extravagant, just enough to be special — followed by a time of fellowship, a gathering for all of us who knew her, to celebrate and share memories over tea, coffee, and treats.
