Over these three workshop sessions you'll learn not only the ins and outs of how a rigid heddle loom works, but also then how to set up and bring your design to life.
Please note, there is no session on the 17 May.
In the first session you'll be given an introduction of how to prepare and operate a rigid heddle loom and begin to think of what you could incorporate into your scarf design. By the end of this session you should have begun to wind and warp up your loom with either cotton or wool.
For the second session you'll be exploring your chosen colours, make some final decisions on your design, and then begin the weaving process.
By the end of the third session, you should have a fully woven project ready for you to take home. During this third session you will also be given advice on how to finish your piece, how to add embellishments, and how to look after and wash your new scarf.
All materials will be provided for, but if you would like to bring along any materials in particular then please feel free to do so.
Janet from Orange Pippin will be there through the whole process to help out and guide you on your weaving journey.
It is possible to not book onto all of the session dates. However, it is recommended that everyone who wishes to take part in the later sessions is booked onto the first session, as this is when all of the basics will be covered and when you will learn the skills that allow you to take what you learn further.
Enjoy a free tea or coffee on arrival. The Weaver's Rest Café will be open throughout the day if you wish to purchase refreshments.
Booking required - Tickets are £35 each
