Welcome back to another year of Tectonic Plates: Alamance County’s Science Café. I look forward to seeing everyone again.
Imagine what life is like in deep sea ecosystems with its near freezing temperatures, intense pressure, and near-total darkness. Recently improved scientific understanding of the composition of the ocean floor has led to greater interest in deep sea mining. How will the proposed mining affect deep sea ecosystems? Come find out at Tectonic Plates this Tuesday (Sep 9th, 7-8pm) on the 2nd floor of Burlington Beer Works. Brian Kennedy, a scientist at Ocean Discovery League, will present a program titled “Deep sea ecosystems and the impacts of deep sea mining.” As with all Tectonic Plates events, there is no entry fee, and you can expect a lively event in a relaxed atmosphere without all the technical jargon. We meet every 2nd Tuesday from September through May.
