• DEEP TIME thinking and meditative reflection: Spend time contemplating the processes that formed the landscape and living organisms. Reflect, write, draw and talk about the slow pace of these changes and your place within them.
• Time-Lapse Imagination in film: See and imagine both organisms and the landscape in time-lapse, in Evolution and with mountains rising and eroding, seas advancing and retreating, and continents drifting over millions of years as you internalize the concept of deep time.
• Internalize a Process Perspective: Embrace philosophical approaches, such as process philosophy, which view reality as a dynamic web of relationships and continuous becoming. This mindset shifts focus from static “things” to ongoing processes, helping you see the world as ever-changing and interconnected.
• Relational Understanding: Recognize that all beings and entities are part of a larger, evolving whole. This perspective encourages humility and a sense of belonging within the broader flow of earth’s history allowing you to feel/experience the World as Process.
• See Reality as Dynamic: Understand that everything in nature, from mountains to ecosystems, is in a state of flux—nothing is truly static. Even seemingly permanent features are “slow verbs,” constantly changing over time.
• Participate in Ongoing Change: Acknowledge your own life as part of the broader process, shaped by and shaping the world around you. This fosters a sense of agency and responsibility within the planetary story.
• Engage with Creative Activities: Artistic expressions and writing, drawing and concern for environmental stewardship will help you experience and contribute to the ongoing process of the world. By combining these embodied experiences, imaginative exercises, philosophical reflection, and direct engagement with each other, we will expand our sense of connection, humility, and wonder within the Earth’s vast story.
