Managing Periodontal Disease: Diagnosis, Treatment & Maintenance

Overview:

This lecture-style course is designed to provide dental professionals with the clinical tools and knowledge to confidently identify, diagnose, and manage periodontal and peri-implant diseases. Participants will review the definitions of health and disease in both natural dentition and implant cases and explore the underlying etiology and pathology that contribute to disease progression.

In this course, you will learn more about the following themes:

• Recognize the signs and symptoms of periodontitis and peri-implantitis for accurate diagnosis
• Develop comprehensive treatment plans by incorporating risk factors, and using the staging and grading system
• Evaluate prognosis and support long-term patient outcomes through customized maintenance protocols

Speaker: Dr. Paul Herrmann DDS, MS

Dr. Paul Herrmann is a Western New York native who attended St. Francis High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Canisius College and a Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. He attended and received a certificate in Periodontics at an accredited, 3-year residency program in Periodontics at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. He is trained to practice in the full scope of periodontal and implant-based surgical procedures. Dr. Herrmann serves a role as a clinical faculty member at University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Herrmann maintains memberships in the American Academy of Periodontology, American Dental Association, and other local dental societies. numerous publications relating to dental materials.
