The Richard LaRouech Quintet will be playing a mix of Richard’s original tunes alongside interpretations of some crowd-pleasing jazz standards. It’s a big moment for Richard, and he’s bringing together some incredible musicians to provide a night filled with great energy, creativity, and a lot of heart.
Originally from Buffalo, New York, trombonist Richard LaRouech is quickly making a name for himself in the New York Metropolitan jazz scene. A recent graduate of William Paterson University with degrees in Jazz Performance and Music Education, Richard studied under acclaimed jazz artists like Bill Charlap, Jeremy Pelt, and John Mosca. His time there included performances at Dizzy’s Club, features on WBGO radio, and a cover story in the New Jersey Jazz Society magazine. Nationally and internationally recognized, he was a finalist in the International Trombone Association’s Carl Fontana and JJ Johnson competitions and won the American Trombone Workshop’s National Jazz Trombone competition. Since graduating, Richard has performed at top venues like The Jazz Showcase, Swing 46, and Dizzy’s Club, and shared the stage with renowned groups such as the Glenn Miller Orchestra, The Robert Edwards Big Band, and The Stone City Band formerly led by Rick James. While rooted in jazz, his musical range spans orchestral, reggae, and ska, and he continues to grow as both a performer and educator across Western New York and the Tri-State area.
