The Fifth Annual Firecracker 55 will be held on Sunday, July 6th.
This is a route which has a mix of road and bike path riding. It is a good training ride for some of the typical days we see on ESR- and it will be a good training ride if you do the 70 mile ride the day before in Lockport.
The ride starts at Charlie's Boatyard.
Meet at Charlie's Boatyard at 7:00- Depart at 7:20
It takes Ohio St to Ganson, up through Canalside, through the lower westside of Buffalo to the Bike Path along the Niagara River. We will travel the Bike Path to Unity Island, and continue on the Path to the Grand Island Bridge. Up and over the South Grand Island Bridge, and instead of lapping the floating pork chop, we will continue down Grand Island Blvd to the North Grand Island Bridge, over to Niagara Falls. We will hit the observation points to look at the Falls.....
We will circle Goat Island, and head back continue around Buffalo Avenue until it becomes River Rd and ride a new bike path in NT, continue through North Tonawanda, and pick up the bike path once we get back into Tonawanda.
Round Trip (pending no detours or side routes in Niagara Falls) is 55.5 miles.
Pace Group: 13-15 mph average
If you want a more swift pace, get after it!
(If you are a slower rider- all are welcome! Group up and find your people's pace!!)
Hope for minimal head winds!
We will be crossing the Grand Island Bridges. It is a little narrow and windy, so if you are not sure of yourself on your bike, you can ride the bike path through NT and pick up the route on the other side of the North Grand Island Bridge.
