Founded in 1872, the Museum of Ethnography is one of Europe’s earliest specialized museums, dedicated to preserving and presenting intangible cultural heritage. The museum’s new building stands at the gateway to Budapest’s City Park, offering a modern setting for its renowned collections.

Flash photography, tripods, and filming equipment are not allowed inside the exhibition spaces.
Large bags, suitcases, and oversized luggage are not allowed inside the museum for security reasons.
Pets are not permitted, except for registered service animals.
Alcohol, drugs, and any form of intoxication are strictly prohibited on the premises.
The museum is wheelchair accessible, with ramps and elevators available throughout the building.

The museum is closed on Mondays.
Last admission is one hour before closing time.
On the 3rd Saturday of each month, permanent exhibitions are free of charge for Hungarian and other EEA nationals under 26, or for up to 2 close relatives accompanying a person under 18.
