The "Threading Emotions" workshop explores how patterns, tension, and precision can be used to express emotion and connect people — literally and symbolically. Using the techniques of string art and filography, participants will create unique artworks by combining nails, wooden boards, and colorful threads.
The process will encourage mindfulness, focus, and creativity, while the repetitive, meditative nature of the activity provides a calming and grounding experience — supporting mental well-being through tactile artistic expression.
This workshop is organised as part of the Art Well project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, aiming to support youth mental health through artistic self-expression and inclusive local activities.
Each participant creates an individual piece of string art reflecting their personal theme, and all contribute to a shared group artwork — a collaborative piece representing connection and unity through creativity.
This workshop was designed based on insights from the local Focus Group Meetings held earlier in the project, where participants expressed interest in hands-on, tactile art forms that require patience, attention, and offer a sense of achievement. String art was suggested as an accessible method that combines visual impact with meditative process — especially appealing to those less confident in traditional drawing or painting.
Who can participate? The session is open to young people aged 16–30, with no previous experience required. Guidance will be provided step-by-step, allowing participants to focus on the experience and enjoy the creative journey from blank wood to geometric beauty.
