Step into the heritage craft of basketry and learn to weave your own asymmetrical willow basket, working with a beautiful variety of natural willow.
In this one-day workshop, you’ll explore different weaving techniques to create balanced, harmonious forms, and finish your basket with a sturdy wooden handle, which you’ll learn to drill and secure yourself.
For an extra personal touch, if you have a favourite stick, branch, or piece of driftwood (because don't we all?), you’re welcome to bring it along to use as the handle.
You’ll leave the day with a practical, characterful basket that’s ready for gathering, storing, or gifting — and the skills and confidence to keep weaving.
⭐ All tools and materials provided
⭐ Step-by-step guidance — perfect for beginners and improvers
⭐ A selection of different willow varieties to work with
⭐ Guidance on preparing and securing a wooden handle
⭐ Hot drinks and light refreshments throughout the day
⭐ Free on-street parking at the venue
Please bring your own packed lunch.
Whether you’re new to willow weaving or looking to expand your skills, this workshop offers a supportive, inspiring environment to get stuck in and create something truly unique.
This is an opportunity to slow down, connect with natural materials, and experience the satisfaction of creating something both beautiful and useful with your own hands.
No prior experience is necessary. Suitable for ages 14+ (under 16s must be accompanied by a participating adult). Please note that whilst this class is beginner friendly, willow weaving does require some finger strength and dexterity.
Spaces are limited to keep the workshop personal and hands-on.
