Marie Tomanová a venit din Mikulov în SUA ca au pair, iar acum lucrează la campanii pentru Nike, Instagram și reviste de modă precum Vogue CS. Cu toate acestea, numele ei este mai cunoscut în străinătate decât în țara natală, care i-a oferit puține oportunități ca tânără pictoriță. Paradoxal, doar la New York, departe de casă, a putut să crească și să se regăsească; partenerul său în viața personală și profesională, istoricul de artă Thomas Beachdel, i-a fost un mare sprijin. Tomanová abordează lumea înconjurătoare într-un mod diferit, cu o avalanșă de emoții pozitive, o conexiune imediată, acționând ca un mediu prin care trece energia celui fotografiat. Regizoarea Marie Dvořáková, care s-a mutat și ea în SUA, se conectează la subiectul ei, fotografa Marie Tomanová, în același mod. Portretul celor două Marii spune povestea visului american și a căutării rădăcinilor, identității și casei.

🎤 După proiecție, vom sta de vorbă cu Lucie Černá, curatoare, editoare și fondatoare a editurii Untitled, la care a apărut ultimul volum de fotografie al Mariei Tomanová, dar și multe alte cărți dedicate fotografiei cehe.

Marie Tomanová travelled from Mikulov to the USA as an au pair, and today she shoots campaigns for fashion brands such as Nike, Instagram, or for the fashion magazines such as Vogue CS. However, her name is better known abroad than in her native country, which provided few opportunities for her as a young painter. Paradoxically, it was only in New York, far from home, that she was able to grow up and find herself - a transition greatly supported by Marie’s partner in professional and personal life, art historian Thomas Beachdel. Tomanová touches the world in a different way, with a rush of positive emotions, an immediate connection, acting as a medium through which the energy of the portrait-sitter passes. Director Marie Dvořáková, who also relocated to the US, connects to the photographer in the same way. The portrait of the two Maries tells the story of the American dream and the search for roots, identity and home.
