🎧 Since the fall of 2022, the music listening sessions “The Music Digest” have been a stable part of the program in Prague’s club Palác Akropolis. The core of the presentation is a monthly selection of twelve music videos (official or live), accompanied by news, anniversaries and promotion of upcoming concerts, under the direction of music journalist Dan Sywala (ČT art, ČRo Jazz, Full Moon).
🌍 However, for presentations outside of the Czech Republic and Slovakia, a group of music journalists join each year to prepare a program called “The Best Of CZ/SK” to monitor the best albums of the previous year. Its aim is to present some of the most interesting music aspects of these two closely interrelated scenes. The goal is to offer a broad genre spectrum (alternative rock, modern jazz, rap or experimental pop) and give space to well-established names which are maintaining a high standard, as well as highlighting perspective new projects and talents.
📀 Playlists of CZ/SK albums were prepared together with Michal Pařízek, editor-in-chief of Czech music magazine Full Moon, and presented in Prague’s club Palác Akropolis. A more recent playlist was created in collaboration with Kristina Kratochvilová (Deník N, VOGUE CS, Full Moon Magazine) and Zdeněk Neusar (Frontman.cz, Festival Beseda u Bigbítu).
🎤 On 4th of December 2025 from 19:30 at the Czech Centre Bucharest you may look forward to alternative rock, modern rap, experimental folk as well as ambient jazz.
💡 Dan Sywala’s music listening sessions have taken place since 2017 and started as a charity project for SONS – Czech Blind United. „My main inspiration was Steven Wilson, a notable British progressive rock musician, who mentioned in our interview that people don’t have time to close their eyes for two hours and listen to music.”
📰 Sywala is currently a member Český rozhlas Jazz, ČT art, Full Moon, Harmonie and taking care of his platform Rock’n’Roll Journalist. In the past, he was also a member of the Televize Seznam team and for eleven years a contributing member of Muzikus magazine. He is concentrating mainly on interviews, and some of his best-known guests were Adam Clayton (U2), Jason Newsted (ex-Metallica), Stewart Copeland (The Police), Richard Kruspe (Rammstein), Andrea Bocelli, Slash, Mike Shinoda (Linkin Park) and Goran Bregović.
