LES MISÉRABLES (1934)

In 19th-century France, escaped prisoner Jean Valjean attempts to start a new life while staying a step ahead of the relentless Inspector Javert. Few films achieve the scale and sweep of this definitive—yet rarely screened—adaptation of Victor Hugo’s classic novel. What better way to spend a sweltering August day?

This program will be presented with an hour-long break for lunch as well as a short intermission in the mid-afternoon. The show will conclude around 4:00 pm.
