𝗙𝗥 : Auteur majeur du cinéma documentaire contemporain, 𝗪𝗔𝗡𝗚 𝗕𝗜𝗡𝗚 naît en 1967 à Xi’an. Il a étudié la photographie aux Beaux-Arts de Shenyang, la ville industrielle que, des années plus tard, il filme dans À l’Ouest des rails. Après les Beaux-Arts, il est admis à l’Académie de cinéma ; il découvre les films d’Antonioni, Bergman, Pasolini, et voue une admiration particulière à Andreï Tarkovski. Au cours des années 1990, il gagne sa vie en tant que cadreur, assistant ou cameraman. Le système du cinéma et de la télévision ne lui convient pas et il se rend compte qu’il ne peut pas y évoluer. Il décide d’en sortir et de produire ses propres films.
Ceux-ci, souvent caractérisés par leur longueur, documentent la Chine du 21ème siècle et la multitude de récits et de destins humains qui la composent.
𝗘𝗡 : 𝗪𝗔𝗡𝗚 𝗕𝗜𝗡𝗚 is a major contemporary documentary filmmaker who was born in Xi’an in 1967. He studied photography at the Fine Arts School in Shenyang, the industrial city he would later film in West of the Tracks. After graduating, he was admitted to the Film Academy, where he discovered the films of Antonioni, Bergman and Pasolini, and had a particular admiration for Andrei Tarkovsky. During the 1990s, he earned his living as a camera operator, film assistant and cameraman. The film and television system didn’t suit him as he realized that he couldn’t evolve within it and decided to produce his own films.
His movies, often characterized by their length, document 21st-century China and the multitude of human stories and destinies that characterize it.
