Following their widely acclaimed collaboration on Lagrime di San Pietro, acclaimed director Peter Sellars and the Los Angeles Master Chorale reunite with a deeply personal meditation on what it means to say goodbye in times of struggle. The luminous music of the Baroque composer Heinrich Schütz’s Musikalische Exequien (Music to Accompany a Departure) serves as the inspiration for this ceremony of remembrance and devotion. 24 singers gather for tender and heartfelt communal grieving in a staging that combines poignant solo and choral sections with choreography while powerfully conveying what it means to say goodbye and to have faith that the departed’s presence remains with us.

Après leur collaboration largement acclamée sur Lagrime di San Pietro, le célèbre metteur en scène Peter Sellars et la Los Angeles Master Chorale se réunissent pour une méditation profondément personnelle sur ce que signifie dire au revoir en période de lutte. La musique brillante du compositeur baroque Heinrich Schütz, Musikalische Exequien (Music to Accompany a Departure), sert d'inspiration à cette cérémonie du souvenir et de la dévotion. 24 chanteurs se réunissent pour un deuil commun tendre et sincère dans une mise en scène qui combine des sections solistes et chorales poignantes avec une chorégraphie, tout en transmettant avec force ce que signifie dire au revoir et avoir la foi que la présence du défunt reste avec nous.

Na hun alom geprezen samenwerking in Lagrime di San Pietro, komen de veel besproken regisseur Peter Sellars en het Los Angeles Master Chorale opnieuw met een diep persoonlijke meditatie over wat het betekent om afscheid te nemen in tijden van worstelingen. De prachtige muziek van de Musikalische Exequien (Music to Accompany a Departure) van barokcomponist Heinrich Schütz dient als inspiratie voor deze ceremonie van herinnering en toewijding. 24 zangers ontmoeten elkaar voor een tedere en oprechte gezamenlijke rouwceremonie in een enscenering die aangrijpende solo- en koorsecties combineert met choreografie, terwijl krachtig uitgedrukt wordt wat het betekent om afscheid te nemen en erop te vertrouwen dat de aanwezigheid van de overledene bij ons blijft.
