À l’occasion d’Halloween 2019, Clipping, pilier du rap expérimental de Los Angeles, mettait fin à son long silence de trois années en publiant There Existed an Addiction to Blood. Un an plus tard, le trio (composé du rappeur virtuose Daveed Diggs et du duo de producteurs Jonathan Snipes et William Hutson) revenait avec un album encore plus élaboré, toujours conçu sur le thème de l’horreur. Visions of Bodies Being Burned est la seconde moitié d’un diptyque bien pensé. Clipping y présente son rap horrorcore le plus abouti jusque-là.
L’album contient seize titres, seize histoires effrayantes déguisées en morceaux de rap, incorporant aussi bien des influences telles qu’Ernest Dickerson, Clive Barker et Shirley Jackson que de Three 6 Mafia, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony et Brotha Lynch Hung. À travers diverses approches, Clipping s’appuie sur le langage de l’horreur pour concevoir son style musical déjà révolutionnaire et emblématique.
Le groupe revient aujourd'hui au Botanique avec un nouvel EP en poche qui confirme l'étendue de son talent.

clipping. is het project van rapper Daveed Diggs en producers William Hutson en Jonathan Snipes. Het trio maakt compromisloze hiphop waarin verhalende teksten en experimentele producties samenkomen tot een mix van noise, rap en sciencefictionachtige thema’s.
Hun werk werd twee keer genomineerd voor een Hugo Award, de belangrijkste prijs voor sciencefictionliteratuur.
Op hun aankomende album 'Dead Channel Sky' verruilt clipping. de grote conceptplaten voor een mixtape-achtige verzameling tracks.
Hierin smelten hiphopgeschiedenis en cyberpunkcultuur samen tot iets nieuws. De sfeer ademt de energie van de jaren tachtig en negentig, toen genres als triphop, rave en drum & bass hun stempel drukten op de underground.
