Kyle Chenoweth Quintet @ Bar Oussou

Playing an array of originals, the Kyle Chenoweth Quintet draws inspiration from the Australian Jazz scene. Fusing contemporary and and traditional to create their own unique sound.

Kyle Chenoweth is a trombonist from Adelaide, now based in Naarm/Melbourne, offering a bold and personal take on modern contemporary jazz. His music blends expressive lyricism with rich harmonic textures, reflecting a deep commitment to the evolving language of jazz.

Join Kyle and his quintet at Bar Oussou for an evening of forward-thinking jazz, featuring two sets of original compositions alongside some of the band’s favourite tunes. Developed over the past two years, this project showcases Kyle’s distinctive compositional voice and the ensemble’s dynamic interplay.

Drawing inspiration from artists such as Immanuel Wilkins, Joel Ross, Barney McAll, and Walter Smith III, Kyle’s sound is both grounded in tradition and driven by innovation. With a strong foundation in performance and improvisation, his work continues to explore new sonic territory while staying rooted in the expressive spirit of jazz.
