Dadirri: a Continuing Journey of Cultural Learning with Ash Dargan
How do we listen — not just with our ears, but with our whole being?
Dadirri, from the Ngan’gikurunggurr language of the Daly River region in the Northern Territory, is an ancient practice of deep, contemplative listening. It invites us to slow down, to become quiet enough to hear not only the words, but the space between them — to listen to the land, to each other, and to the still voice within.
This session honours the work and teachings of Dr Miriam-Rose Ungunmerr-Baumann, respected Elder, educator, and artist, who first brought the practice of Dadirri into wider awareness as a gift of Aboriginal spirituality to all people.
Join Ash Dargan, Larrakia man, Yidaki master, and senior We Al-li facilitator, in this powerful continuation of cultural learning.
Through story, sound, and presence, Ash will guide us into a space of reverence and inner stillness — a medicine for these times of disconnection.
A chance to remember how to truly listen — to self, to Country, and to the wisdom of First Nations peoples.
NB After the workshop, Ash will be offering music on the Yidaki, Native American flutes, and Udu (African drum), as part of a night of world music kirtan together with local musicians in a celebration of intercultural connection.
NB - Combined ticket for workshop + kirtan will be available, tickets going on sale soon.
